Headshot: Zion

As I have shared here previously, I have taught a few photography courses of the past year and a half.  So it was a pleasure when one of my former students asked me to photograph her son's headshot

I love working with artists, whether it be for album covers or headshots.  My first intro to the arts was an actor during my teen years so headshots are very familiar to me.  It also helped that I knew the family and had seen Zion in numerous photos already (on FB and Instagram).

As always I start off by establishing relationship with the people I am working with.  Zion is the same age as my nephew so I immediately took an interest into Zion's love of music and acting.  He is also the oldest of his siblings as I am too.  I reminded him that we were in Central Park to have fun during our 45 minute shoot.  He took direction very well.  And his smile is amazing.

Check it for yourself.

The Humphreys Bunch (Family Portrait)

PORTRAITURE

I met Jose and Mayra three years ago at an ACTS Urban Youth Leader Training Program presented by the Latino Leadership Circle. Immediately I connected with their realness and their genuine love for people.

Over the past few years I had the privilege to watch them start a new church plant in Harlem. Along with pastoring a new congregation, Jose and Mayra are parents to their son Javier.

This past weekend I had a great time photographing portraits for this family in Central Park. Below is my favorite photo from the session.

Joseph Dominick Photography

The photo shoot in Central Park (New York City) went very well. The models were lovely and I have over 1,200 pictures of great portrait and wedding images.

The lovely assignment is now sifting through all those pictures to find the best of the best of the best (a la Will Smith in "Men in Black").

Photoshop Lightroom is a great software program which I highly recommend. I recently purchased it and it provides so much latitude in tweaking images as well as establishing metadata and keywords in the photography.

The portrait and wedding images from that shoot are amazing. Check out the sample portrait at my Flickr account here.
