Joseph Dominick

As I looked through the numerous images I was able to acquire through my collaboration with Wilnelia Velez Photography, I decided to design My Top 10 (possibly 12).  Moving forward I will share some pics of me on the blog from time to time.

With today's portrait I decided to edit it in a style different from the first two portraits I shared.  This one has a more muted color palette.  This was intentional.  I am thinking of the story of all 10 images and am looking to add variety in the telling of the fuller story as well as the visual palette.

In the latter stages of this edit, I even played with blending modes to mix in black & white imagery which definitely added that different look I wanted.  Hey you "Can't Knock The Hustle".  :)

Hurricane Irene Photo Shoot

PORTRAITURE

When Irene told me what day she was coming to NYC I knew we would not have great weather. In spite of that, we went out into midtown and got some amazing images.

In the middle of 8th Avenue outside of Penn Station

She took one of me with my umbrella.

We crossed the street and avoided getting hit by these taxi cabs.

Unfortunately this car splashed us and the photos shoot was over.

But we had a great time.

Me & My Boo Photo Shoot, NYC

PHOTOGRAPHY

Last summer my schedule did not allow me to photograph the wedding of Catalina and Victor. However, this past weekend, I had the great fortune of following this young couple through midtown Manhattan in the cold weather and taking portraits of them. We started off near Penn Station and then made our way to Times Square.

The pics will be up soon. In the meantime, here is a photo of me, Victor, Cat, and Ura (the makeup artist and cool friend).

Private Galleries

Wow, I love the capabilities Photoshelter has. Photoshelter is what I am using for my photography website, which is scheduled to launch at the end of July.

Last month I did a photo-shoot in Orlando, Florida with a friend. While back in New York, I was able to post her portraits in a private gallery on my Photoshelter site where only she can view them.

The best part is she can rate each portrait using a 5 star system, as well as post comments on individual portraits. I can post my star ratings independent of hers. The Matrix Rating button allows us to compare both of our ratings for each portrait side by side.

This feature, along with many others, makes Photoshelter a great site for photographers.
