Which New Logo Works Best?

LOGO

With the journey of Joseph Dominick Photography, I knew the time had come to get a logo designed. I finally stepped out and communicated with Vivid Dezigns in NYC. Below are the two final logo designs. Tell me what you think. Which do you prefer? And why?

Point & Shoot: Trinidad

POINT & SHOOT

Instead of walking the beaches and streets of Trinidad with a camera and lens valued at $4000, I thought it was important to acquire my first Point & Shoot camera. Yes my iPhone is lovely but I needed a robust P&S that also shot HD Video.

So I purchased the Canon G12.

This camera is a beast. It has all the DSLR handling a pro is used to all stuffed neatly into a $400 treasure.

The structure is tight and sturdy. The swivel screen is beautiful. And the 10 megapixel images are sweet. This all fits in your back pocket, with a bulge of course. It is not razor thin like most P&S cameras.

As a companion to the G12, I purchased the Jolby Gorillapod ($65) to help stabilize my photography and video work.

Just yesterday I placed the camera with the Gorillapod on the dashboard to record video while I was driving. The legs on the Gorillapod are bendable providing various means of stabilization.

So for the next few weeks I will be posting photos on the JDP blog on Thursdays as part of the "Point & Shoot: Trinidad" segment.

Amy Lee: On 2 [Digital Short Film]

JDP CINEMA

I am very excited this experimental digital short film is completed. This is my first Short using the 5D Mark II and the 50mm f1.8. I was totally inspired by Mike Kobal to go in this direction by adding a video component at the end of a portrait photo shoot. Of course I had to add some urban/adobo flavoring to the concept.

So when Amy Lee asked me to photograph her headshots I knew she would be the person I would do this JDP Cinema project with for the first time. For me the whole concept started with the song. Once I found this "Red Dress" song by Nine Leaves, it was a wrap. I pitched the concept to Amy and she seemed okay with it. Once I played the song, she immediately became hyped for the shoot.

Having a background in acting, film, & video really helped me. I literally had to prepare for a photo shoot and prepare for a film shoot. Considering I already directed, produced and edited two Short films of my own, that made the process much easier.

Amy loves dance and she is a dance instructor. So I knew she would give me the moves I would need to put the pieces of the film together.

So without further ado, please enjoy "Amy Lee: On 2".

Let me know what you think considering I am now fusing photography and video under the Joseph Dominick Photography banner.

Urban Fine Art Fave - "Latina Vega"

PORTRAITURE

It is amazing how the internet provides a platform to meet people. A friend of mine introduced me to the photography work of Latina Vega some time last year. Then during the latter end of the summer that same friend recommended me to Latina to assist her with a photography project she was working on.

Since then Latina and I continued communicating on FB, and supporting each others photography work.

Latina works in the Tampa, Florida area so it was a great pleasure to take portraits of her last week while she was working in the NYC.

This is one of the many great portraits I took of her.

Nydia Veras was excellent on the Hair and Makeup.

Urban Fine Art Fave - "Jazmine: Alluring & Glamorous"

PORTRAITURE

Jazmine is a very beautiful woman. So contouring light to accentuate her beauty was not a difficult task.

In this portrait I was able to capitalize on the black backdrop and the moody direction of the lighting. Jazmine continued to allow the camera to capture the intimacy and the vulnerability. The R&B music I was playing offered some assistance as well. :)

Urban Fine Art Fave - "The Super Women of Allure"

PORTRAITURE

While editing some photos for the group Allure, I decided to give a super hero type filter to one of their photos. I liked the image so much I decided to place it here on the blog.

Urban Fine Art Fave - "Sarah (of Poetik Soul) #2"

PORTRAITURE

I can not front, this portrait of Sarah is HOT! Normally I do not tilt the camera. I often feel like it doesn't look right. However while on the tracks I decided to take a few tilted shots.

It was such a pleasure working with Tennia and Sarah during this Poetik Soul photo shoot. I am so happy this year they will be releasing their debut album, "The Unlikely".

Oh yeah, big shout-out to Andrea Karen who took care of the Make-up and Hair. She killed it. I love her work and her artistic insight on location.
